FONTERRA BOILER WORKSHOP 2014

WHAT IS RISK BASED INSPECTION & HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR INSPECTIONS

Presentation by Anita Zunker, PEI

A Risk Based Inspection (RBI) approach can assist in ensuring that the scope of inspection of a boiler is able to identify the true condition of the equipment. This presentation will define what sets risk based inspection scope apart from statutory compliance inspection.

By using an RBI approach, a well-defined long term inspection programme can be defined for your equipment. Once the inspection plan is established, how do you ensure that you get the most information from the inspections that are performed?
The presentation will discuss the importance of using the correct personnel and structure to execute the inspection so meaningful results are obtained. It will also show the importance of executing continuous review and updates of the long term inspection plan as more information through (for example) inspections, review of operations, increasing industry knowledge is  obtained. By setting up a system that covers these aspects, a successful RBI influenced inspection programme can be implemented on your pressure equipment.
